Powers and Abilities : Maxie Zeus is an ordinary, if psychotic, human. He is of large build and as such represents a mild threat. Sometimes he wields a prop thunderbolt that is capable of generating an electric charge; he has also wielded a gaudy golden hammer with the same properties. He is considerably wealthy, and as such is capable of procuring many rare items and/or weapons.

Weaknesses : Maxie Zeus is genuinely psychotic, with all the pitfalls that go with it. He is unable to perceive realities than cannot be interpreted into his fantasy world, runs on 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and is bound by the limits of his fantasy which compels him to believe he is the Greek God Zeus.

History : For the first thirty years or so of his life, Maximillian Zeus lived in mediocrity. He married, and settled into a profession as a history teacher. Through unrevealed circumstances, he lost his job and his wife, and shortly after, his sanity. Using his family's connections, Maxie found new work in the shipping industry, and rose to prominence there. In this environment, Maxie's sanity further degenerated, until he began to believe he was the Greek god, Zeus. He commissioned a superweapon capable of 'smiting' any in Gotham who dared question his will, but was defeated by Batman and sent to Arkham Asylum.

Since his initial incarceration Maxie has escaped with the same frequency as his fellow Arkham inmates, but has had much lesser success in his endeavors. His attempt to build a team of metahuman agents, the New Olympians, met with bitter disappointment, and his one contact with the divine went very badly when he was ensnared in a plot by the children of Ares. Perhaps his lowest moment was during the Knightfall story arc, when Bane released Maxie and his fellow criminals. Fleeing for freedom, Maxie ran headlong into a tree, and was the first Arkhamite to be recaptured.

Recently Maxie has returned to the shipping industry, this time under the watchful eye of his family. It remains to be seen if Maxie is truly rehabilitated or if his psychosis will manifest once again.
