Overview :

Building on the events of Hush, the Riddler crafts his most ambitious puzzle yet, seeking to outwit the Batman and prove his superior intellect once and for all. Or so it would seem - in reality, the Riddler's crime spree, which starts with the abduction of Julie Madison, one of Bruce Wayne's former flames, is in itself an elaborate riddle. Having learned of the Justice League's use of mind-wipes and memory alterations, and considering himself at risk because of his knowledge of Batman's identity, the Riddler enacts the crimes with a series of publically broadcast clues, pointing towards Batman's true identity. He reasons that if his knowledge of Batman's identity were erased, these clues left behind in the public domain would be sufficient to restore his knowledge - and once Batman is aware of that, there would be no possible reason to modify his memory.

In the Riddler's penultimate crime, he lures Batman, Nightwing and Robin to the Gotham Fairgrounds, to be ambushed by a cadre of villains including Killer Croc, Crazy Quilt, Harley Quinn, and Murderdoll. Batman intercepts the final video of clues before it is aired, and is able to jump a step ahead of the Riddler, capturing him and putting him back in the care of Arkham Asylum.
