Powers and Abilities : Warmaker ONE lost his physical constitution and is now composed entirely of a unique type of energy outside of the electromagnetic spectrum. His being is housed in a high-tech suit of power armor which allows him to channel his being into destructive blasts. The armor is also equipped with numerous missile weapons, most notably a 'tactical atomic bullet' which is a weapon powerful enough to kill
Superman and obliterate the body of the
Shaggy Man (though it did not stop him from regenerating). He can also use his armor to broadcast auditory and sensory information, allowing him to overload Superman's super senses. Sawyer's unique constitution also leaves him impervious to mind control attempts from psychics such as
Gorilla Grodd. Warmaker ONE is also capable of flight.
Weaknesses : Warmaker ONE's body is incorporeal and will must be contained within his power armor in order to keep from dispersing. He can keep his body corporal if the suit is somewhat damaged, but severe damage and destruction of the suit altogether can destroy Sawyer completely. Though invulnerable to absorption from energy absorbers such as
Triumph, Warmaker ONE can still be influenced, or even outright controlled by them.
History : Scott Sawyer enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and rose to the rank of colonel, working alongside the likes of
Captain Atom and
General Wade Eiling. His decisive leadership experience caught the attention of Eiling, who recruited Sawyer to be the first member of his Ultramarines Project. Sawyer, along with three other soldiers, was exposed to radiation from the element Proteum. Like his fellow Ultramarines, Sawyer was granted powerful abilities at a terrible cost - the price he paid was the loss of his corporeal body. Outfitted with a custom-built battlesuit, Sawyer became Warmaker ONE, the leader of the
Ultramarine Corps.
In their first mission Warmaker ONE lead the Ultramarines into battle against the
Justice League and proved his tactical worth by directing the Ultramarines to a one-sided victory against the JLA. Sawyer himself overcame
Superman easily by overloading his super senses, and almost executed him before he and the other Ultramarines learned the truth - that they had been nothing but pawns in a mad scheme by General Eiling, who plotted to transfer his mind into the body of the indestructible Shaggy Man. Eiling succeeded, but the Ultramarines defeated their former leader by siding with the League. After Eiling's defeat, the Ultramarines went AWOL, choosing to put their skills to work for all peoples, without ever again being tools of a government. They created the flying city of
Superbia, which has survived as a haven to this very day.
