Powers and Abilities : Sodam possesses the standard suite of Daxamite abilities, virtually identical to those possessed by Kryptonians, such as Superman. He has flight, invulnerability, super-strength and super-speed, enhanced sensory powers and heat vision. As a member of the Green Lantern Corps, he possesses a Green Lantern power ring. The power ring is capable of nearly any function the user can imagine, provided the user has the focus and willpower to direct the ring to enact it. Most commonly, it used to generate solid light constructs that can be used for offense or defense; to gather, record or retrieve data; or to enable the user to traverse hyperspace at faster than light velocities.

Weaknesses : Daxamites are vulnerable to lead; it affects them much the same way that Kryptonite affects Kryptonians. It interferes with their powers and can cause death with sufficient exposure. Red solar radiation, while not directly fatal, can drain the stored solar energy from their cells and leave them weakened or powerless.

History : Born on the reclusive planet of Daxam, Sodam was raised in a xenophobic culture with a deeply ingrained fear of beings from beyond their own world. Despite the cultural pressure, Sodam would often look to the stars, and dream of someday visiting them. His dream seemed close to realization when an alien traveler crash-landed on Daxam. Sodam befriended the alien, named Tessog, and tryed to help him repair his ship. Unfortunately, his parents discovered the intruder, and had the alien executed. Sodam's memories of the event were altered, but the brainwashing came undone when he saw Tessog's stuffed corpse on display in a museum, posed to seem like a hostile invader.

Sodam began work on repairing Tessog's ship, and had nearly completed his efforts, when fate chose him as the next Green Lantern for Sector 1760. No longer requiring a ship for transport, Sodam used his ring to report to Oa for training as a rookie member of the Green Lantern Corps.

Divergences : Diverges shortly after his first appearance. In Watchtower continuity, Sodam remains a rookie Green Lantern from Daxam, and has not inherited the power of Ion.
