Powers and Abilities: Max Shreck has no superhuman abilities but has formidable charisma and intellect, enough to climb the ranks of the ruthless Gotham business world to become one of that city's most powerful and influential citizens. He is ridiculously wealthy, and has enough underworld connections to obtain just about anything he would ever need. While Max has only normal human strength, he is a vicious combatant, and when backed into a corner will fight with a savagery that might catch even costumed crusaders off guard. He knows how to use handguns, and carries one when he deems it necessary.

History : One of Gotham City's most infamous powerbrokers, Max Shreck is the owner and CEO of the multimillion dollar department store chain known as Shreck's. His roots are humble, and he built his retail empire from the ground up. He has dated many women in his time, though at one point he married and had a son, Chip Shreck. Chip's mother died but Max continued to raise the boy, viewing him as his heir and perhaps the only person he cares about more than himself.

Ambitious to a fault, Shreck has been a troublesome mover and shaker in Gotham for some time now. He has made underground alliances with many of the lesser gangs, manipulating uneducated brutes into targeting rival chains and further consolidating his power. He has branched out from retail to energy in recent years, constructing a series of power plants that siphon energy from Gotham electrical grids, giving the Shreck family a virtual energy monopoly in Gotham City.

Shreck's plans have been curtailed by his rival businessmen, but always on the lookout for new opportunities, he has recently descended upon Metropolis, buying up much of downtown Metropolis real estate which was rendered uninhabitable by the villain Chemo. He has partnered with Catalina Reyes, though recent events have shaken that partnership considerably.

Divergences : The events of Batman Returns are non-canonical in Watchtower though Max Shreck has the same background and history as his cinema counterpart.
