Powers and Abilities : Chip Shreck is, at least physically, an average fourteen year old boy. He has no unique powers or abilities. He does, however, all the wealth his father has supplied him with at his command, which amounts to a personal fortune most grown men can only dream of. With precious few exceptions, if it can be bought, bartered for, or otherwise secured through financial means, Chip can get it. That said, Chip does not normally carry any weapons on his person, not even a pocketknife.

Weaknesses : Chip’s most obvious weakness is the fact that he’s a normal fourteen year old boy. In short, he’s largely defenseless against most threats, with only the elements of surprise and dumb luck that he might be able to employ in his self-defense. Chip also has the psychological vulnerability of caring about his father, a weakness which can certainly be exploited by particularly amoral villains. He’s a tad on the self-confident (read: cocky) side as well, and like all those who suffer from self-confidence, he can sometimes make some decisions that in retrospect can only be described as foolish.

History : The only son of billionaire Gotham entrepreneur Maximillian Shreck, Chip lost his mother at a young age. Though his father even then commanded a small fortune and worked hundreds of hours a week, somehow in the process Max always managed to find time somewhere for his son. As soon as Chip could walk he was accompanying his father to work, usually under the watchful (or not so watchful) eyes of Max’s personal assistant, a position that was never filled by the same person for very long. So it was early in his life that Chip learned the basic tenets that his father lived and lives by: a rock-solid work ethic, a smile and a few smooth words for the few people that matter, and total contempt for the ‘scrabbling parasites’ of Gotham City.

Of course, Max never provided his son with anything less than the best, and as a result Chip has attended a variety of the most prestigious private schools in Gotham. Usually these schools padded their coffers with generous donations from the Shreck empire, and as a result Chip has had unique, even deferential treatment, for much of his schooling experience. Always wanting his son close at hand, Max has made arrangements for Chip to transfer to a private school in Metropolis, where the elder Shreck has been spending most of his time in recent weeks. Chip has readily agreed to the transfer, having traveled outside of Gotham City only infrequently before now and having a great interest in seeing the so-called ‘City of Tomorrow’ for himself.

Divergences : Diverges completely from the Chip Shreck in Batman Returns - while the original Chip Shreck was an adult businessman, the Chip Shreck of Watchtower continuity is just fourteen years old. His personality is a logical extrapolation of the canonical Chip, given how very little screentime he receives in the movie.
