Powers and Abilities : Generally, the abilities of Ol-Vir (and other Daxamites) are identical to those of
Superman and other natives of the planet
Krypton (super-strength; speed; flight; x-ray, heat, microscopic and telescopic vision powers; invulnerability and super hearing), with three major exceptions:
1. He is vulnerable to the inert element lead, instead of the radioactive element
Kryptonite.
2. Lead poisoning is fatal to Daxamites, and Ol-Vir is kept immune only through regular ingestion of anti-lead serum, such as the one modified by Lex Luthor.
3. In some incarnations, the radiation of a
red star will not rob him of his powers, as it would with most Daxamites and Kryptonians.
History : When business magnate Lex Luthor was released from prison, he chose to make his mark in a different way. Instead of returning to his formerly questionable practices, Luthor instead created the "Infinite Initiative". Miracleman was chosen as Luthor's version of his arch rival
Superman. His cover story was given under the name Oliver Vera, a recipient of the "Everyman" meta-humanizing process.
Miracleman served along with the team, acting as their resident powerhouse until his true purpose was revealed. Ol-Vir's activation by
Mordru was one of the catalysts to a larger, overarching plot. The mission implanted was to find and capture the Legion of Super Heroes member known as
Karate Kid. The newly turned Miracleman then proceeded to level the city of
Metropolis during a battle with
Superman, the Justice League, and his Infinity Inc. teammates. Ol-Vir's capture and defeat resulted in massive casualties and damage to the downtown area and the removal and deaths of
Superman and Luthor's children, respectively.
Miracleman's whereabouts, post defeat, are currently classified.
Other Sources :Divergences : 'Miracleman' is, in fact, Ol-Vir the Daxamite, plucked from the Pre-Crisis 30th century by
Mordru to act as a sleeper agent on
Earth. The visuals of Power Boy were chosen to represent him.
