Powers and Abilities : Like his ‘father,’ Kid Amazo is imbued with the powers of multiple members of the Justice League: in his case, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Martian Manhunter, Flash, Aquaman, John Stewart, and Batman.

Pete possesses superhuman strength roughly equal to that of Wonder Woman. He is capable of matching Superman for a short time; however, in an extended battle the Man of Steel is the stronger combatant. He is physically stronger than the Martian Manhunter but the original Amazo, with power equivalent to Superman's, is the physically stronger of the two artificial humans.

Pete also possesses considerable durability and resistance to damage. His invulnerability is, again, inferior to that of Superman and his father Amazo, but unlike them he has the ability of self-regeneration, inherited from Wonder Woman. As Pete is essentially a human with a few important cybernetic 'extras', his regenerative capabilities allow him to recover from most injuries within minutes. He is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and also inherited Diana's natural resistance to magical attacks.

Heat Vision and X-Ray Vision are the other abilities Pete inherited from Superman. His Heat Vision is roughly equal in strength to Conner Kent’s and is not as advanced as Superman’s as he obviously has had less practice. Like Superman, Pete is capable of seeing through any volume of matter except lead.

As three of Pete's five 'donors' have flight, he is naturally capable of flying. Like Superman, he seems to manipulate graviton particles in order to achieve flight, and is capable of flying at multi Mach speeds.

Rounding out the physical attributes set is Pete's superhuman stamina. T.O. Morrow has inferred that the stamina of Kid Amazo is infinite - while obviously an exaggeration given that Pete is human, he inherited all the stamina of Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and the Martian Manhunter. He is capable of matching the Flash in an extended race, if just barely. His reflexes are also speedster-level, around fifteen times that of baseline human reflexes.

From the Flash Pete inherited the ability to tap into the Speed Force. He has demonstrated the ability to match the Flash move for move in raw velocity, and like Wonder Woman he is capable of thinking and reacting as well as moving at superhuman speeds. Pete is capable of disarming opponents without heightened reflexes and catching bullets and shrapnel out of midair.

The Martian Manhunter's primary contribution to Pete's powerset is the ability of telepathy. While Pete's telepathic strength is unknown, he has demonstrated the ability to sense subconscious thoughts without difficulty, such as inner fears and uncertainties. He is also capable of conversing with multiple individuals with his mind alone. Whether he is capable of the Martian Manhunter's greater telepathic abilities, such as mind control and psychic assaults, remains to be seen.

Finally, Pete is capable of generating green hard light constructs without needing a Green Lantern power ring. So far, he has only demonstrated the ability to create green barriers, although he may be capable of greater feats.

Weaknesses : Though he inherited most of the abilities of his ‘benefactors’ from the Justice League, Pete only inherited a smattering of their weaknesses. He does not share the Flash’s need to consume lots of food to compensate for his accelerated metabolism, nor does he have the Martian Manhunter’s vulnerability to fire. He does not have Aquaman’s bond to the sea and does not weaken out of water.

Curiously, Pete inherited Superman’s weakness to Kryptonite, a vulnerability which is not shared by his ‘father’ Amazo. Kryptonite is not as lethal to Pete as it is to Superman or other Kryptonians, but it does weaken him considerably, inducing light-headedness and nausea.

More significant than the physical weaknesses Pete inherited are the emotional ones. With all of his ‘benefactors’ exhibiting various levels of reluctance to kill, Pete himself abhors the thought of killing, and even when faced with a threat many times stronger than him, is reluctant to use the full extent of his abilities – the Superman and Wonder Woman at work in him. Like the Martian Manhunter, Pete tends to seek diplomatic solutions first, and is a little too sensitive to thoughts for his own good – a particularly twisted telepath could really mess with the kid’s mind

History : If Pete Powell had to use a single word to describe his life, it'd be 'average.' The younger of two children born in Boston to a middle-class Irish American family, Pete's childhood was predictably ordinary. He liked dinosaurs and sci-fi movies. He fought a lot with his big sister, Kerry. He was never very comfortable with religion and gradually separated himself from the Catholic faith, as his sister had. His parents were disappointed, but understood. He graduated with honors and was granted a scholarship to attend Berkeley College in New York City, majoring in philosophy. He's in his sophomore year.

Of course, only some of that may be true. Or maybe none of it is true.

In reality, Pete is ‘Kid Amazo,’ the successor to the villainous android Amazo. The first Amazo was infused with the all the abilities of the members of the Justice League, and later iterations of Amazo only became more powerful and deadly. Yet with each upgrade, Amazo was defeated again and again. Finally Amazo’s creator, Professor Ivo, concluded that living beings have a certain indefinable ‘something’ that machines, no matter how advanced, do not.

Ivo’s solution? Cultivate a cyborg with the same abilities as the original, all the power of Amazo but with a human heart instead of a steel one.

Unfortunately for Professor Ivo, his plans for the Kid Amazo project ran into a roadblock when he began suffering from a bad case of death courtesy of Brainiac. Though functionally immortal, Brainiac got around this problem simply by beheading Ivo, then burying Ivo’s head under a mountain of trash in a landfill. The murder was punishment for Ivo’s last Amazo android attacking Brainiac himself; Brainiac further salted Ivo’s legacy by destroying his laboratory.

However, Professor Ivo had more than one laboratory, and eventually this auxiliary laboratory was discovered by T.O. Morrow, Ivo’s sometimes-rival and fellow mad scientist. Unearthing the notes on the Kid Amazo project, Morrow decided to finish it himself, and put the completed product to work doing what both his creations and Ivo’s could not: destroy the Justice League.

The next eight months remain shrouded in mystery: whether Pete Powell was obtained or created during this time is unknown, but eight months later he enrolled in the University of Berkeley in New York, his tuition fully paid for courtesy of a private scholarship.

Pete has pursued a philosophy major since enrolling at Berkeley and recently began dating Leslie Willis, a popular New York shock jock roughly his age.

Other Sources :
Divergences : Basically takes the original concept of Kid Amazo and throws everything else out the window. His arc in JLA Classified is non-canonical here. He has a different name. Completed by T.O. Morrow rather than Professor Ivo. Dating Leslie Willis as opposed to Ivo's daughter Sara. Attends college in New York as opposed to California. And most importantly, while he has instinctive knowledge of the minds of the JLA, he does not imprint upon them (and is thus not going to blow up because of a silly quarrel). It should also be noted that he is 'mostly human with a few extras', as opposed to the original Kid Amazo who seemed to be mostly robotic.
