Powers and Abilities : Karu-Sil, as a member of the
Sinestro Corps, possesses a Qwardian power ring. The power ring is capable of nearly any function the user can imagine, provided the user has the focus and willpower to direct the ring to enact it. Most commonly, it used to generate solid light constructs that can be used for offense or defense; to gather, record or retrieve data; or to enable the user to traverse hyperspace at faster than light velocities. She usually uses this ring to create duplicates of the dead members of her pack.
Weaknesses: Karu-Sil has a psychological dependence on the constructs she creates with her ring. These constructs represent her dead pack, and deprived of the ability to create them, she becomes emotionally unstable and reckless.
History : Born on the savage world of Graxos III, Karu-Sil's people were primitive. When she was five years old, her parents were slaughtered during a raid between tribes, and the orphaned girl was forced to fend for herself. The starving Karu-Sil killed an animal, only to quickly be found by the predators who were already hunting it. The three beasts saw kinship in the fierce young girl, and took her in as one of her own. Mutilating her face so as to look more like her family, she lived with them for years.
As a teen, Karu-Sil met a boy from a nearby tribe. Once the shock of seeing another member of her species after so long wore off, she murdered the boy. As her pack began devouring the corpse, the Green Lantern Blish appeared and, thinking Karu-Sil was a victim of the pack and not one of them, killed all three of them. Blish then took her to Graxos IV, a more technologically advanced world, to be cared for. She quickly murdered the psychologist assigned to treat her and was institutionalized.
Sinestro's henchmen freed Karu-Sil for imprisonment and recruited her to the
Sinestro Corps. With her ring, Karu-Sil was able to reclaim her long-since-dead pack, developing a psychological attachment to the constructs. She murdered several
Green Lanterns during the attack on
Oa. When the
Sinestro Corps assaulted
Earth, Karu-Sil was a part of the New York contingent - she and her pack, along with Romat-Ru, battled
Hourman on the Brooklyn Bridge - a battle that left Hourman critically wounded. She was ultimately defeated with the assistance of
Jade and
Arisia.
