Kahndaq

(Country)

Location :
Kahndaq is an Arabic country on the continent of Africa, located on the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula. It is a landlocked country, sandwiched between Egypt and Jordan.

Description : Homeland of Black Adam, Kahndaq has a rich history going both over three millennia. In 1600 B.C. Kahndaq was sacked and burned by the villain Ahk-Ton; this tragedy resulted in the deaths of Teth-Adam's wife and sons, leading him to become Khem-Adam and go to extreme measures to protect Kahndaq. After the wizard Shazam took Adam's powers from him and entombed him, Kahndaq degenerated into chaos, ruled for the next three millennia by a series of dictators and warlords.

Black Adam eventually returned to Kahndaq a few years ago, during which time it was in the grip of a petty dictator, Asim Muhunnad. Muhunnad was quickly overthrown by Black Adam and his allies, and executed by Atom Smasher. Black Adam the appointed himself the new guardian of Kahndaq and began his efforts to rebuild society in his country. Despite attempts by Ra's Al-Ghul and Mordru to destabilize it, Black Adam's attempts have been successful, with Kahndaq increasingly catching up with its contemporaries to become one of the most stable regions in the Islamic world.

Liberal in culture, Kahndaq has become a haven for Muslims seeking to escape the oppression of stricter Arabic nations, though by no means is Kahndaq chaotic: Black Adam has instituted many Draconian laws, and crimes are punished harshly. Public executions are carried out every Wednesday by Black Adam himself.

Notable Residents : Black Adam, Atom Smasher, Brainwave, Northwind, Jericho

Points of Interest :

  • Shiruta:The capital city of Kahndaq, Shiruta is named for Black Adam's first wife, who died thousands of years ago. It is Black Adam's home as well as the home base of his country's metahuman corps. Its flag consists of three horizontal stripes, black, then white and black again, intertwined with three golden pyramids. Each of the pyramids represents a deceased member of Black Adam's family.
