Powers and Abilities : Lyle has a genius-level intellect, and he is likely one of the smartest human beings ever born. He's a creative, unconventional thinker - and the DC One Million crossover indicated that over 800 centuries later, his name would be remembered as one of the greatest scientists ever born of
Earth. His training with espionage programs means that he is a very capable martial artist, as well as being familiar with other intelligence techniques. Thanks to his invisibility serum, which was specifically calibrated for his genetics, Lyle has the ability to render himself (and with effort, nearby persons or objects) invisible. This power affects the entire electromagnetic spectrum, though other cues (telepathic, auditory) may detect his presence.
History : Lyle Norg was a boy genius. His numerous patents made him a millionaire by age 10. His intellect was noticed by
Earth's government, and he was recruited into a secret program for child prodigies, affiliated with the United Planets' Intelligence organization. One of the idea he concocted while there was his invisibility serum, which activated his metagene and granted him his powers, which made him even more useful to U.P. Intelligence. Lyle would conduct several missions for them, before ultimately being asked to join the
Legion of Super-Heroes.
Lyle proved himself a worthy member of that organization - inventing their signature Flight Rings thanks to an early inspiration. He would go on to found and lead the Legion's espionage squad, and later, he lead the entire team. He developed an ongoing rivalry with
Brainiac Five - both of them being gifted scientists.
Lyle came to the 21st century tracking Brainy's time bubble, and became enmeshed in a temporal storm. The subsequent details can be found in the entry for the
Legion of Super-Heroes. The entire team has since been able to return to their native time period.
Other Sources : Divergences : This is the Lyle Norg of the post-Zero Hour Legion. He, and a few of his comrades, are currently stuck in the 21st century in Watchtower continuity.
Note : Brainiac Five's previous player was suspended from LiveJournal, along with all of his journals. As a result, many of
Brainiac Five's prior appearances in the community were damaged, and aren't readable - and Lyle appeared in many scenes with
Brainiac Five. We have the posts preserved in an archive, however, and we have attached a zip file containing many of them to Brainy's Wiki page.
