Powers and Abilities : Master archer.

History : Ollie is a rich, thrillseeking activist, who after a drunken rant at a party went for a voyage on his yacht with his bodyguard. His bodyguard was working for the leader of a secret and powerful heroin smuggling operation, and after taking the yacht, left Ollie for dead on a deserted island.

Forced to use his archery skills to survive, he eventually learned of the smuggling operation being housed on the island he had washed up on. Upon learning of the slave like conditions of the inhabitants, he began to take down the large group of smugglers. He eventually returned to civilisation, changed by his experiences on the island.

For a long time, Green Arrow was the sole protector of Star City, and crime levels reached an all-time low. Leaving the city in a good condition, with heroes such as his son, Connor Hawke and his former sidekick, Arsenal, to defend it, he travelled the USA with Green Lantern Hal Jordan, fighting crime wherever they saw it.

Due to their differing political ideals (Ollie is a raving liberal, where Hal is more conservative) they approached crime in different ways, and taught each other different things. The time spent together helped forge one of the closest friendships amongst the heroes of the JLA.

As well as his friendship with Hal, Ollie has had an on/off relationship with Black Canary Dinah Lance for years. To describe it as often turbulent is an understatement, as Ollie and Dinah seem to argue as much as laugh with one another. Despite her current relationship with Dr. Mid-Nite, Ollie is still close to her, and would never allow any harm to reach her.

In the recent years the Green Arrow saved the world from a nihlistic cult, at the cost of his own life in a large explosion. However, he was resurrected with the aid of his friends and came back a changed man. For the first few years he felt something was missing, and it eventually transpired that The Spectre had removed some of Queen's worst memories. Ollie doubted himself for a long time after discovering this, but has recently re-adopted his trademark left-wing attitude and finds it once more easy to laugh at things. As time goes on, he is becoming the man he was before.

Green Arrow is a reserve member of the JLA, by his own request. Due to his very involved personal life, and the amount of time he performing heroics in his own city, he doesn't have the time to spend with the JLA that some of the other heroes do.

As part of his life outside of being a costumed vigilante, Ollie is the CEO of Queen Industries and the Queen Foundation, organisations that deal in ethical investments and green fuel, appropriately enough. The Foundation has assisted in irrigating areas of many third-world countries, and Ollie has spent the last four months working on-site with the Foundation.

Green Arrow's major foes have historically been Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, Merlyn and Onomatopoeia. Since his recent reappearance in Star City, he hasn't combatted many of the major league supervillains. However; he fought the Joker in Gotham City whilst visiting the city as Oliver Queen.

The Green Arrow has recently been tutoring Speedy, Mia Dearden, in the art of heroics, and she has taken to solving crimes by herself, and not just among the Teen Titans. Despite this, Ollie has been keeping a steady eye on her, sending his friends to watch over her when he's unavailable. This came to a head recently, when she decided to take a recently-escaped Merlyn down by herself. Bested by her foe, Merlyn used Speedy as a trap to lure Ollie into battle with him.

Ollie took the bait, and even cried Mia's name out when he saw what Merlyn had done to her. Merlyn sucessfully scored many arrow hits on Ollie before he was able to fight back, and it was only the timely intervention of Speedy with a taser arrow that saved the Arrow Family on that occasion.

Due to an as yet unknown agreement with Zoom, Green Arrow was able to summon the speedster to race both he and Speedy to Star City Hospital after the conflict. This left Merlyn with both memory of Speedy's real first name, and also traces of Ollie's DNA on some of his arrowheads - which he sent to Calculator to analyze. Fortunately, due to some clever manipulations by Oracle, Batman, Catwoman, and Green Lantern, Ollie's identity was once again secured.

Divergences : In the DCU canon, Queen is still in a relationship with Dinah Lance, and is Mayor of Star City.
