Powers and Abilities : Captain Comet's metagene endows him with a number of physical and mental abilities. He is said to be the pinnacle of human evolution. He possesses enhanced physicality, granting him superhuman strength and durability. His known psychic powers include telepathy, telekinesis, and clairvoyance. Blake has two additional senses humans do not possess, but these may be extensions of his telepathy - one is the ability to detect emotional states, and the other is the ability to sense an opponents strengths and weaknesses. His clairvoyance not only allows the viewing of objects at a distance, it occasionally provides him with glimpses of the future. By combining his strength with his telekinesis, he is capable of feats of strength rivalling those of a Kryptonian. Additionally, Blake possesses a photographic memory, genius-level intellect, and a unique facility for learning, able to master skills in a fraction of the time it would take an ordinary human. He is a highly skileld combatant, and has mastered the use of his telekinesis to such a degree that he can fly, create force fields, or even re-arrange simple matter on a molecular level.
History : Adam Blake was born on
Earth, possessing a mutated metagene that would later be triggered by the light of a passing comet, endowing him with potent superhuman abilities. Labeled as the man born a hundred thousand years ahead of his time, he fought crime on
Earth for a while, before leaving to seek his destiny in the stars. He would eventually cross paths with
Vril Dox II and
L.E.G.I.O.N., and though Blake's strong sense of ethics often clashed with Dox's pragmatic approach, he became a valued member of that organization.
Blake's last known status in continuity prior to Watchtower's divergence was as the commander of L.E.G.I.O.N., functionally serving as its leader while founder Vril Dox took time off to help raise his son. Vril has sense resumed a more active role in the organization in Watchtower, but whether that means Comet remains as his second in command, or has moved on to other opportunities, remains to be seen.
