Powers and Abilities : Ben Turner is one of the foremost martial artists in the DC Universe, and has mastered innumerable hand to hand combat styles. He possesses no explicit metahuman abilities, though the Watchtower version of the character has demonstrated skill in the detection of chi, or life energy.
History : Ben Turner was an angry child, and turned to martial arts to help him find his center. While studying with renowned master O-Sensei, he would meet and befriend a young
Richard Dragon. The two men became fast friends, and often worked together - even being recruited by the United States Government as operatives. On a mission for the U.S., Ben was captured by the League of Assassins, and brainwashed - becoming one of the League's most successful assassins, and an instructor in the martial arts for their recruits.
When elements of the U.S. Intelligence community began to formulate the idea behind the
Suicide Squad, Ben Turner, then called Bronze Tiger, was rescued from the League of Assassins, and his mind deprogrammed by
Amanda Waller. Tiger became a member of the Squad, often serving as a kind of conscience for the team, as he did not wish to use lethal force unless absolutely necessary. He served as a member of the team for years, starting an on-again, off-again relationship with
Vixen during that time. When the Squad disbanded, Tiger went into semi-retirement.
The death and apparent resurrection of his close friend, Richard Dragon, brought Turner back out into the world, though - seeking out his old brother-in-arms and establishing a martial arts dojo in
Gotham City. Recently,
D.E.O. Director Bones has approached Turner about a new incarnation of the
Suicide Squad, as well.
