Powers and Abilities : Booster possesses a highly advanced battlesuit that enhances his strength, and allows him to project protective forcefields and energy blasts. He also uses a Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring, an artifact of a version of that team that no longer seems to exist.

History : Michael Jon Carter was a sports star in the 25th century, but destroyed his own career when he was caught in a gambling-related scandal. He was forced to take work as a janitor, in a museum - a museum which happened to house a time sphere. Michael was struck with the inspiration to use his knowledge of the future and the time sphere to go back in time and set himself up as a popular hero in the late twentieth/early twenty-first century.

His plan didn't work out exactly as expected. Taking the name 'Booster Gold', due to an unfortunate verbal gaffe, he found himself unable to succeed to the level of his expectations. Booster was afforded a lucky break, however, when he was called upon to join the JLA, which had just been reformed as the Justice League International. There, he met Ted Kord (Blue Beetle II) with whom he formed a strong friendship. He and Ted remained with the team for a long run, and briefly continued adventuring with Extreme Justice, after the JLI was reorganized.

Since then, Booster has continued to work in heroics to a degree, and spends some of his time taking endorsement deals. He was recently married to a wealthy woman named Gladys, many years his senior.

Divergences : Diverges around Identity Crisis #1. Since Ted Kord never died in our continuity, Booster never really underwent the maturation that resulted in the main DCU. He's still the same shallow, materialistic goofball he's always been. The events of 'Formerly Known as the Justice League' appear to be at least partly in effect for the Watchtower - Booster's marriage to Gladys, for instance - though it doesn't seem as though L-Ron, Maxwell Lord, or Ted Kord were involved to the same degree as depicted.
