Powers and Abilities : Barda possesses superhuman strength and endurance, and is virtually indestructible. She has a suit of Apokoliptan armour which increases her strength and endurance, as well as the Mega-Rod, a weapon she uses to great effect, and a pair of aero-discs which allow her to fly. Barda can project cosmic energy, perceive and manipulate matter and energy on the sub-atomic level, form and manipulate energy constructs, and discharge most forms of energy. Due to the Mother Box inside her Mega-Rod, Barda can also render herself intangible, and has access to Boom Tube technology. She is the former captain of the Female Furies, and elite group of warriors in the service of
Darkseid, and is thus a highly trained warrior.
History : Barda was born to the New God race on
Apokolips to Big Breeda, but was stolen away from her mother by
Granny Goodness. Barda was groomed since youth to lead the Female Furies, until she meets and falls in love with Scott Free. Barda defects, and works with a rebel cell led by Himon (another New God) to help Scott escape. She later follows him to
Earth, where he has become the escape artist Mister Miracle, and she accompanies him and his manager Oberon on tour.
Barda was kidnapped and mind-controlled by the alien Sleez, who also kidnapped
Superman, and forced the two to star together in an adult film.
Barda and Scott retired from superheroics, though they continued to be attacked by
Darkseid's forces, including the Female Furies who'd come under Granny's orders to recapture Scott. The two later joined the Justice League International, and later retired once more. They currently reside in the suburbs of Connecticut, though both offer their skill and expertise to their various friends in the superhero community when needed.
Barda has recently joined up with
Oracle's
Birds of Prey, at the behest of
Black Canary.
Other Sources :Divergences : Barda is currently alive and well, as the events of
The Death of the New Gods series have not taken place. Barda never went with
Superman to rescue Supergirl from
Darkseid's clutches.
