Powers and Abilities : Amon Sur, as a member of the Sinestro Corps, possesses a Qwardian power ring. The power ring is capable of nearly any function the user can imagine, provided the user has the focus and willpower to direct the ring to enact it. Most commonly, it used to generate solid light constructs that can be used for offense or defense; to gather, record or retrieve data; or to enable the user to traverse hyperspace at faster than light velocities. Ungarans seem to possess roughly human physical strength, but have an unusual physiology - notably, they can survive decapitation, as their brains are not stored in their head.

History : Amon Sur is the son of Abin Sur, the predecessor of Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Amon believed that he would naturally succeed his father as Green Lantern on his death, and was outraged when that honor went to an Earthman. His bitterness and anger led him to a life of crime, ultimately taking charge of the Black Circle crime syndicate. His criminal activities came into conflict with Kyle Rayner, Jordan's successor, and the Ungaran was defeated.

Amon Sur was a natural recruit for the Sinestro Corps when it began. He took part in the initial surprise attack on Oa, wherein the Corps liberated Parallax from Sciencell confinement. Amon then became the host for the Parallax entity - at first, he struggled to master its power, leading to a defeat at the hands of Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner at the battle of Mogo. By the time he appeared in the Sinestro Corps' assault on Earth, he displayed a much greater mastery of his powers, but still ultimately failed to destroy the Justice League Watchtower in a pitched battle with a handful of Leaguers led by Kyle Rayner.

The Parallax entity has since been reclaimed by the Guardians of the Universe, and Amon Sur's fate is unknown - he has presumably been captured by the Green Lantern Corps.
