Welcome to the Wiki for the JLA Watchtower RPG. Our playing field can be found at LiveJournal. We're a play-by-post community based on the DC Comics Universe. This Wiki is still very much under construction, but if you're interested in learning more about our game, feel free to post a thread in our fan community or send our moderator team an e-mail.
In case you didn't follow that, here's a more elaborate explanation.
We're a roleplaying community, first and foremost. Each of our players takes on one or more characters, playing them interactively with one another. It's like cooperative storytelling. We don't use rules or dice to resolve conflicts - letting the players decide for themselves how the stories should go.
We're based on LiveJournal, one of the popular 'blogging' communities. This allows a player to put up a post on our community establishing a setting or premise, and other players to join in with their characters in threaded conversations.
We're based on the DC Comics Universe - home to Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, and a host of others. We have players playing characters from the popular to the obscure, and plotlines that range from four-color traditional superhero tales, to darker, Vertigo-style entries.
New in May : Aztek goes up for adoption! Robin, Spoiler, and Captain Marvel Junior were adopted! New imported characters in the person(s) of Neil Gaiman's Croup and Vandemar. Completed write-ups for Prometheus, Max Shreck, Chip Shreck, The Contessa, The Monk, Overmaster, The Adversary, Sonar II, Roulette, Grace Choi, Knight II, Neron, Kyle Abbot, Ice, Loki, Croup and Vandemar, and Azrael! It's Space Hero month! Completed write-ups for Captain Comet, Vril Dox II, Green Man, Adam Strange and Rann! Added a stub for L.E.G.I.O.N.!
New in June : Write-ups completed for Bedovian, Karu-Sil, Moose, Borialosaurus, and Despotellis of the Sinestro Corps! Also, Magog, Kid Amazo, Dust, and Max Hudson! Magog, Omen, Kid Amazo, Kitty Kowalski, Superboy II, and Killer Croc were adopted! Batgirl II changes hands! Finished Location Write-Ups for Superbia, Markovia, Kahndaq, and the Phantom Zone! Oracle, Starfire, Nightstar, Black Canary, Alfred, Nightwing, Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, Holly Robinson, Hawkwoman, and Anarky were put up for adoption! June is a hot month, so have write-ups for Alice Logan, Firefly, Firebrand II, and Blackfire!
New in July : Completed write-ups for Anarky, Ursa, The Ventriloquist, Maxie Zeus, Triumph, Yellow Lantern and Warmaker ONE! It's JLI in July : Completed write-ups for Metamorpho, Captain Marvel I, and Fire! Added a Continuity Guide!
New in August : The General and Deadman are adopted! This month's theme is the JSA! Complete write-ups for Mr. Terrific I and Mr. Terrific II! Unfortunately, there haven't been as many opportunities to update this month, so we'll be extending the theme into September. Look for an update to Wildcat, and possibly Green Lantern I soon.
New in September : Connor Hawke adopted! Conner Kent (Superboy) adopted! JSA month continues! Completed write-up for Green Lantern I and Wildcat!
New in October : It's Sinestro Corps month, fitting the theme of fear! Completed Write-Ups for Mongul II, Amon Sur, and Arkillo! Updates on Bedovian, Karu-Sil, and Yellow Lantern! Onomatopoeia, Brainiac, Green Arrow I, The Scarecrow, Hush, Mirror Master II, Croup and Vandemar, and Circe opened for applications.
New in November : Kyle Rayner, Damage, Deathstroke, and Hawkman II opened up for applications! Sand, Oracle, and Huntress adopted! Some updates to the Continuity Guide!

I've done some reorganization of the character pages after discovering WetPaint seems to have a limit of fifty sub-pages under a node - if you want to be able to sort them properly, that is. So the sections have been broken down into smaller groups.
Also! With the creation of endless stub articles, it may be difficult to keep up with the new updates that are more substantive. To partially ameliorate this problem, I have added the 'complete' tag to the entries that are basically up to date in displaying a character's status in the game. Now that I've done write-ups for my own character stable, I've begun to branch out into some of the NPCs. What I'd like to know is - which characters are most people the most interested in seeing write-ups for? Heroes or Villains? Icons or obscurities? Particular characters? My own personal inclination is to do the write-ups that are easiest for me - those will tend to be the middle-tier characters whose histories in the game I'm most familiar with. But if everyone has a hankering for Aquaman's write-up, I could certainly do the digging and put it together.

I've noticed that we've got a lot of people joining the Wiki who aren't players in the game - I'm pleased and surprised, and happy to see you all. I hope we can keep the updates flowing here to keep you interested, and I hope that most or all of you become regular readers of the game on Livejournal. Maybe we'll even get a few people interested in joining as players.
I'm about to head off on vacation for a couple of days, as of the time of this writing, but I'm always happy to answer questions to the best of my ability. So if you're curious about what we do, or how or why we do it, feel free to ask. |
